Still here after six years

Wow has it been six years already!

If you’ve just recently subscribed to my blog, you may not know that I have started this domain while I was locked down in my apartment during the pandemic.

Check my first blog post here.

Many of us probably have started many things back then, like how I wanted to establish a podcast, which, you guessed it—I failed to sustain. Especially when movement restrictions lifted, and things settled into whatever came after, we were asked to get back to our jobs and return to the office. I realized that there are so many things I can only do with my time, and if I have to choose between my blogging and podcasting, I was okay to let the podcast go (for now). Joke’s on me because I eventually picked up a new form of media four years later. I started producing videos on YouTube which helped me remain sane through another life transition.

Yes, I started most of my projects during transition phases in my life.

And the thing I like most about blogging is the archival system and how I could easily link old posts to new ones. It makes me feel as if my ideas, although they may change through time, can be easily recalled if I needed to emphasize a point.

And hey, here we are, six years after, with a growing readership of at least 30 people reading my posts daily (or whenever I post one). This figure was only a dream before because email newsletters are in tight competition with social media platforms. Seth Godin was right when he said that emails are here to stay, and sure they stick longer than ephemeral social media posts (unless those posts go viral).

Some of you may have been with me since the beginning, and you can tell how much have changed since. Thank you for staying with me! And for those of you who are still wondering if my ideas are for you, feel free to stick around. But don’t feel pressured to stay if my ideas no longer resonate with you. Better keep your sanity than have me add clutter in your life.

I used to wonder if I can still sustain writing in this blog actually, aside from the mounting annual/bi-annual maintenance costs I have to consider. I think about it still moving forward. But like Joan Westenberg said, patience trumps genius over a period of time. I hope I keep my patience intact and still ship the work for the 30 people who keep reading my blogs. I also hope that by then, we’ve grown to a hundred. 😅
