It isn’t just about getting your ideas across.
Knowing whether your audience is still there, following you through, is as important as telling them what you want to say.
If engagement is low, perhaps they are still digesting, or they’re the wrong people.
But if they’re the people who really need to hear about your idea, product, or innovation, then be gentle and kind enough to entertain questions.
Aside from feedback, you’ll also get the confidence that they are in for the journey.
From a recent methodology discussion I attended, I deeply appreciated how the presenter gauges where you’re at just by asking, “So far, so good?”
And if you’re on the listening end, be generous enough, to be honest, whether you have understood or not. Don’t fear asking questions.
You’ll be surprised how it becomes more engaging knowing that you and the one who shares the idea with you are on the same page; the encounter, memorable.
