I always wondered what it’s like to be in space. As a kid, I thought that dreaming of becoming an astronaut is like dreaming of becoming a doctor. But then, it required more than that.
In early 2019, I came across Apollo 8 by Jeffrey Kluger, which recounts the first mission to the moon. Reading it made me feel like I was with Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders. All the suspense built up to calm when, on Christmas eve, they sent a message back to earth.
Let me share this recording from the Apollo 8 astronauts on Christmas eve of 1968, and be reminded that our God is Creator of all.
If you want to know more about the Apollo 8 mission, I recommend this book by Jeffrey Kluger.
And as much as we want to go away from the living Word of God, the Apollo 8 mission and the iconic Earthrise they took never fail to remind us about the spiritual.
In the end, there’s no color or tribe in the sight of God. We are all humans. And that’s what we genuinely become when we receive Jesus as our Lord and personal Savior.
Why we need saving? Because the kind of life we live without God is corrupt and eats us up from the inside out. If left to our devices, we will head to destruction. But because God loved us so much, He gave up His Son Jesus to take away the punishment of sin on our behalf by dying on the cross and rising from the dead. By doing so, Jesus set us free from the bondage of sin.
Why can’t we do that ourselves? Because no corrupt being can redeem itself from corruption. Only an incorrupt being can, and that is God!
When we repent and turn away from our sins, and turn to God, we can now live in freedom with the kind of lifestyle God intended us to live. Only by then will we become the human God meant us to be.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
