Reflections on becoming

Perhaps you’ve never gone out for some time

in

There is silence in between arrivals at the airport. First, there’s the occasional opening and closing of the doors. Then, the cold air whooshing from the inside, brushing against whoever is waiting in the bay areas, anticipating a friend, a lover, or a family to arrive.

You can’t see much movement more than the police dog roaming around, the employees going home or arriving for the day’s shift, and those catching up on their flights.

While you hear the trolleys collected and see them gathered inside the airport near the conveyors, you know that the passengers have finally disembarked. And that somewhere in there, your friend, lover, and family are finally walking closer to you.

There’s something sweet with people getting reunited once more. You won’t know their stories, but you can hear the joy in the air filling the arrivals area. The movement reminds you that we are a people.

We are meant to be with other people.

So if you think you are meant to be alone, perhaps you’ve never gone out for some time.

It’s time to reconnect with others. And maybe, you’d meet that one person, a total stranger at the airport, who would want to offer you a hot chocolate drink.

It would be your story to tell.
