My digital consumption habits often get unhealthy, and I’m already drowning before I notice it. I often find myself looking at my watch and already 30 minutes have gone by since I told myself, “This would be enough for today.” I can feel my brain screaming whenever I put down my phone for the night. But once I close my eyes and start my journey to sleep, my body lets out a sigh of relief: “Thanks for listening.” But how long before I stop fighting myself over this?
Last night, when I finally had the strength to put away my phone, I thought about all the times I could have spent writing but didn’t. Every day seems a battle of choice: do I want to create or consume? Sure, you need to take things in to have anything to give. But most of the time, I allow myself to become a slave to tech. Will I ever regain my autonomy?
