Some days, I have an idea about what to write. And as I begin typing the words I have in mind, I feel the story surge and take shape until it doesn’t. In these moments, I feel like something is missing—an element or a fragment of the story that needs to be told but isn’t yet ready.
I have things I’ve written months ago, some weeks, that have been sitting in my drafts like something half-formed and waiting to become what they need to be.
And so I wait until that element has grown well enough to be told. Some stories may just need more time to trust me with them.
