A place is only as good as our company

1–2 minutes

When my friend and I were walking along a street with fine restaurants all lined up and filled with people in conversation and laughter, I told her how nice it is to be in one and experience what it’s like to enjoy the ambiance and their menu. But the experience won’t be as fulfilling as much as when shared with the people we care about, our families and friends we share intimate connections with.

I’ve come to believe that our deepest longing only find fulfillment through relationships—with God and with other people. Without those relationships, our pursuits and goals and dreams and achievements are like that train going around in circles—what’s the point?

Soul Revolution: How Imperfect People Become All God Intended by John Burke

Sharing a night with my dear friend closed all the gaps and longing I’ve had, much more sharing the moment with a sister in Christ. So many instances have we played the role of being parts of the body, with Jesus as the head, that it doesn’t matter how far we may be from each other because we remain animated by the same Spirit—one that unites us with what the Lord wills—as we continually pray for each other’s well-being.

Living away from my family and long-time friends, I realized that a place is only as good as our company.
