Reflections on becoming

Welcoming home our bonsai money tree plant

in

When I went home during the pandemic, I had the opportunity to test whether I had a natural talent for growing plants. My (now) mother-in-law gave me money tree seeds and challenged me to grow them at home.

It was my first time growing plants from seeds, and it was a wonderful experience to take care of and nurture a living being. With a boosted self-confidence, I also extended my planting skills to snipping off some parts of our miniature jade plants (with roots) and propagating them in soil.

The money tree and miniature jade plants indeed became one of our goat’s favorites to munch on (when you are not around or not looking). It was a tug of war with them, making the whole experience more memorable.

So, when I went back to the metro, I still thought about having house plants to trigger happy memories. And since we don’t have much space in our apartment, I settled for small potted plants that are still a joy to look at.

And for this week, our sansevieria plants welcomed our latest addition: a bonsai money tree plant that reminds me of home.
