When was the last time you checked the second page of Google search?

If you can’t remember anymore because you never did, then why didn’t you?

Was it about your trust in the algorithm’s definition of truth that kept you from asking otherwise?

How about everything you see first in your Facebook feed? Is it merely a reflection of your deepest darkest desires and fears?

Just as algorithms [can] be trained to predict who would click what ad, they [can] also be trained to predict who would like or share what post, and then give those posts more prominence. If the model determined that a person really liked dogs, for instance, friends’ posts about dogs would appear higher up on that user’s news feed.
