Through the eyes of bitterness

For the past few weeks now, we were taught at church about how bitterness takes root in our hearts and grow.

As it says in Hebrews 12:15 NLT:

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

You may be either aware or not, but bitterness changes how you perceive the things around you. And have you noticed how bitterness always begins on your insides? Then as it takes root inside of you, it begins to grow out, and eventually, your bitterness shows on the outside.

You might say, you just don’t understand this bitterness I am in right now.

The heart knows its own bitterness,
And no stranger shares its joy.
Proverbs 14:10 AMP

And you’re right. I can’t.

But you can always make a decision to do away with bitterness.

Why? Because as we have read earlier from Hebrews 12:15, bitterness is a poison that doesn’t only trouble you but also corrupts those around you.

You can always make that choice.
