Dear reader from the future,
It’s been more than a year since we’ve been living smaller lives. And yes, governments addressed the situation differently from one another. Some were successful, and some were not. But we shouldn’t totally blame them for the outcome of the rules they impose to keep the surge of cases from soaring, right? Why would I say that? Because they’re also humans. Your shortcomings could be their shortcomings, too, regardless of the position they are in. Because if you never imagined a global pandemic happening in your lifetime, your lack of imagination becomes a problem. And their lack of imagination becomes their problem too. That instead of wisely addressing the situation, you may act out of fear, and your decisions will be reactive to whatever comes up along the way.
But we both know that doing the blame game all over again never helps. So instead of putting all the weight on the leaders whose authority is placed over us, we must also do our part, particularly on stretching our imaginations. Because when we know how to imagine a future, we’ll surely get there.
I guess the question most of us are asking is, “When will this end?“
And since you’re reading this from the future, you already know the answer. I hope we ended well.
Your letter writer from the past,
Jessa
