The young person in the room

Have you ever had the feeling of cluelessness the moment you entered a room filled with older people who seem to know what they are supposed to do?

And at the back of your head, you can’t help but think, “What am I doing here?”

Instead of hoping to be somewhere else, where you feel you belong, take it as an opportunity to learn from all the older people around you.

Observe. Pay attention. Listen.

And absorb all the knowledge they are imparting.

I tell you, it’s okay to be the young person in the room. It may be uncomfortable for a time, but the learning you will be getting is something you shouldn’t trade for something else.

Because years from now, you will be in the same place where they are. And it will be your role then to usher the new generation into the future, just like what your previous generation did for you.
