Between stimulus and response

1–2 minutes

Between stimulus and response, there is a space.

And in that space, you have the control over what to make out of the stimulus presented to you.

Are you going to respond like a beastly animal? Or are you going to act like a human with morals and sound judgment?

So, no matter what circumstance you are in, decide to go into a pause before making decisions. You’ll be surprised how it helps you think more clearly about things, and how it can result in better outcomes.

If you are in a dire situation, use that space to cast all your worries to the Lord.

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.

Philippians 4:6 AMP

He will give you a kind of peace that thwarts all your doubts and fears.

And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

Philippians 4:7 AMP

It’s also the kind of peace that gives you answers and a clear head on what to do next.

So between stimulus and response, take a pause.

Most of the time, it’s all you need.
