Reflections on becoming

Ah, here’s another beginning

in

Prerequisites.

People who have already gained experience in life will tell you that to achieve something, you need to undergo steps that come before that very thing you want to attain. (I thank all the people who talked me out of so many things.)

And perhaps, I watched too much TV to think that becoming a researcher is cool. (Yes, it is.)

But becoming one is not easy.

Plus, you need to go through many things before your scientific community acknowledges that you are fit and ready.

After my bachelor’s degree, I gained my master’s and published this paper (I thank my adviser for the nudge). Yes, other researchers have published so many scientific articles that mine doesn’t even compare at par.

But it’s not the point here.

The point is, if I never did all that, then I won’t make the cut for the work I do right now.

Because those who filter a resume exactly know what to look for.

I used to tell people that opportunity comes for those who are ready. So if you want to be so many things this year, or maybe in the years to come, you better start working on the fundamentals.

Because not all things require you to leap.

Most things just need you to move one step at a time.

So keep moving. Never park.

And remember that a lack of preparation forfeits an opportunity.
