Dear reader from the future,
Just almost a month after Israel lifted its mandate of wearing outdoor masks for COVID-19, a conflict was brewing between Israel and Gaza that killed and injured both their peoples.
With the tensions erupting and making global news headlines, I begin to wonder how deep-seated their conflict is.
I may have already emphasized in this blog that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, which means that my heart yearns for Israel. At the same time, because I didn’t know much about their religious and national divide, I found this article insightful in helping me go back to the root of their struggle against one another.
From the article Israel-Gaza violence: The conflict explained:
What does the future hold?
In short, the situation isn’t going to be sorted out any time soon.
The most recent peace plan, prepared by the United States, when Donald Trump was President – called “the deal of the century” by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu – has been dismissed by the Palestinians as one-sided and never got off the ground.
Any future peace deal will need both sides to agree to resolve complex issues.
Until that happens, the conflict will go on.
And because you live in the future, you can tell whether this has been sorted out or not yet.
All my hope is that it will, God willing.
Your letter writer from the past,
Jessa
