… and thrived.
I was weeding out some of our suffocated potted plants one afternoon. I was amazed by how the weeds intertwined with the plant itself. It was as if they built their own network atop the cultivated plants that were supposed to be in the spotlight.
It was quite tricky to pull them off, as you would imagine pulling off everything. So what I did was carefully trace weed after weed, from the root, and remove them mesh by mesh.
Until the plants began to breathe again.
But of course, this is not just about weeds.
This is about all the spaces in your life that you’ve allowed sin to flourish. The little habits you do when you are alone, the secret habits, the things you keep doing alone and in the dark.
You already know the truth and the church’s elementary teachings, but you still allowed sin to enter you. You may have not noticed, but the sin in you has become indistinguishable from you.
Because the weeds danced their way, and you let them thrive.
Yes, that’s right. There are weeds that grow in your life too. And it’s time to yank them out of you, right from the roots.
Here’s how.
If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].
1 John 1:9 AMP
But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].
Galatians 5:16 AMP
Let Jesus lead you to live a life that’s different from the world, and you’ll indeed be free that you can breathe again.
