The idea of a 16-hour drive sounds fun—when you’re 20 👀. And my body had to remind me that I am way past that. Still, my mind convinced me it was a fun experience because I traveled with my family.
The main highlight of our trip was giving our 89-year-old grandpa a surprise visit at my mother’s ancestral home and bringing our grandpa home with us.
Maybe long-distance land travel feels different because that car seat feels smaller than it did when I was a kid. And without the space to stretch my crampy legs, the long drive becomes arduous.
