Everyday Stories, Lived

Letter no. 47

Dear reader from the future,

Sometimes, I get worried about my lack of knowledge of how to make things grow like in subsistence farming.

What if another global collapse keeps goods from being transported to where they should go, and I only know how to get food from the supermarket, and the shelves will run empty like we experienced during COVID-19?

Or, what if climate change has destroyed so much of our agriculture that even local farms cannot distribute their produce because there is nothing to harvest anymore? What would people like me become by then?

I can’t help but think how I relied so much on my basic needs from systems vulnerable to change and how I don’t have any alternatives should they fail to deliver what they promised.

Your letter writer from the past,
Jessa
