There have been so many interruptions in my life lately, and what else should we do when they happen? Of course, we learn to go through the process and accept that there are things we can’t control, but at the same time, we understand that how we respond to these interruptions could spell overcoming them or being overwhelmed by them.
How not to be overwhelmed with unexpected interruptions?
Here’s an incomplete list (that may or may not apply to your situation):
- Identify what you did that led you to this momentary break from the usual way of things.
- Indicate the things that you have control over and work on them.
- Once you learn the cause of interruptions and have identified your actions to deal with them, be patient with the process because a reaction often requires time. Sometimes, results don’t come immediately.
- When you have finally transitioned back to your usual way of doing things, it’s time to take preventative measures to ensure that you won’t be surprised by interruptions that could hinder you from achieving your goals and meeting your deadlines.
I now understand the importance of developing preventive measures rather than waiting for the event to happen and only then finding ways to cure it.
