Reflections on becoming

The decisions we make

in

This month has been the most global experience I have ever had because, in four weeks, I have worked with and interacted with internationals in a way I only dreamed of when I was young.

And for the first time, I now see people from various countries, developed or developing, as someone who lives on this same planet just like me, dealing with the same issues, concerns, and problems. They may have convenient access to some things that I do not, but we still share the same need to be cared for and loved.

I even had the opportunity to speak to emerging professionals. I was humbled by how far I’d already gone in life, just as I had imagined it would be. All these things would not be possible without the grace of God alone, who has opened doors of opportunities for me as I actively sought them, often relentlessly knocking on walls until something budges.

At a young age, I was taught that as a follower of Jesus, my desire should be to always do things that bring honor and glory to the Lord God our Maker. So, although I sometimes don’t understand why I am compelled to follow my path, I’d like to believe that the Spirit of the Lord is leading me to where I ought to be.

A person’s steps are directed by the Lord.
How then can anyone understand their own way?
Proverbs 20:24 NLT

But what I have learned is this: the choices you make today affect your future.

If I had chosen a different course of action for my life, I might still have found my way here, but it would have taken me longer, or I wouldn’t be here at all.
