Everyday Stories, Lived

Almost lazy

in

Ah, the moment of choice when you could do everything else but what you should be doing.

How easy it is to sleep through the day, except you have responsibilities to attend to.

Neglect, yes. It could be an option now that you’re tempted to abandon all your responsibilities for more sleep. “Forget everything! What matters is that I get more sleep,” you convince yourself.

But then, half of you said that checking off something from your checklist is pretty easy. So you did a little bit. And then finishing the task felt good, so you did another. Then another, and another.

Next thing you know, you’re already in motion.

Success! You overcame Newton’s First Law of Motion!

So, the next time you feel too lazy to do anything, even when you must be working, overcome the resistance by something highly doable, such as getting a shower. Why? Because I learned that being in motion only begets motion, no matter how small the force you apply may be.

If you want to beat that lazy feeling you are having right now, be in motion! Because the feeling of accomplishing something is so rewarding, you only want to do more.
