How often did you miss an opportunity just because you weren’t ready?
Perhaps, you needed to have a goal in mind. And tell yourself that what you do now should somehow prepare you for that goal, even if you don’t see it coming yet.
So live now as if you are in that future. Do the things you need to get there, drip by drip.
And when the opportunity comes, you won’t be taken aback because you’ve prepared yourself while waiting.
