Reflections on becoming

Anger prowls at the door, but we can choose not to

in

Arriving home after a grocery run today, I realized I’d got a missing item the packer must have missed putting in my shopping bag. And as I thought it through, the benefit of taking back the item from the store still outweighs the cost of returning to the store to get it.

It’s true that it now costs me more to do something that the packer could have avoided in the first place. And if I just dwell on it and sulk about something I could not undo, it becomes easier to blame and get mad at them for awful reasons like absence of mind and wasting my time.

However, it is not worth all the energy to be a Karen for just a single item and crucify others for something you can just forgive.

We don’t have to be an animal lashing out.

As humans, we forgive.
