Being fresh out of college is a challenging position to be in. You know you need to head out somewhere, but you don’t know where to begin yet. Unless your parents know someone in the industry you belong to, you are on your own.
And it feels like clawing your way out from a bottomless pit.
It might feel like a dead-end, especially when you believe that it’s the people or your connections who can give you success in life. But as a Christian, shouldn’t you run first to God rather than to man?
If you don’t know what to do next in life anymore, there’s something powerful about asking God for wisdom.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
James 1:5 NLT
I was 22, fresh from university when I got so distressed about seeking help for a thesis proposal idea. What’s it for? It’s a requirement for my graduate studies application. I know that someone knowledgeable about the energy landscape can help me see existing problems in the Philippine energy sector.
But the thing is, I know no one beyond my college instructors.
So do you want to know what I did?
I prayed to God, asking for wisdom on what I should do next.
Yes, that’s what I exactly did in my distress.
And how did God respond to my prayer? By giving me peace. Only then did I start to have an idea.
So I had the idea to contact one of my college instructors, which resulted in him recommending me to someone who works in the government. Then I went to this person’s office and asked for a thesis proposal idea. But I went out of his office receiving a job offer, too.
Since the encounter, all the connections I have now goes back to that very point, when I was 22 years old.
So why tell you this story? What I am trying to derive at is this:
To really succeed in this life, the only connection that matters is your connection with the Lord. Why? When you are connected to the real source of success, everything you need will fall into place. Everything will be prepared for you if you will only just take that one step of trusting God’s wisdom. He will guide you on every decision you make in this short life and connect you to many opportunities, more than you can ever ask or think.
Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.
