The best leadership lesson I’ve learned? It starts with trust.
When you trust that your team can deliver their responsibilities, they will learn to trust themselves to do what they can, and even more by demonstrating accountability and initiative. They’ll surprise you. They’ll surprise themselves.
Micromanagement only stifles creativity because it calls for a rigid system and requires everybody to conform. What does micromanagement look like? Every decision needs approval. Every step needs permission.
Thinking outside the box becomes difficult, even dangerous. Innovation dies in the waiting room.
But trust?
With trust comes autonomy and creativity. With trust comes ownership. Then the team becomes alive.
They stop asking “Can I?” and start saying “I will.”
