Learning more about geospatial analysis

in

I have already taken quite a few classes on geomatics and GIS since the start of the semester, and all the hours we spent learning were sure fun!

I’m now seeing things in a new light because I know that I am there to learn, not for the grades I’ll get from exams and lab exercises. And because I am sitting in on both classes, I am not pressured by exam dates and submission deadlines. Instead, I am fueled by ideas on how to apply what I’d be getting out of every lesson.

Enrollment (I am here because I want to, not because I have to) is a sure fun way to learn!

When I was taking my master’s, I find it challenging to finish reading a textbook of more than 500 pages because I can’t spend so much time on one class, missing out on another.

But now that I am not constrained by anything, I find myself reading more about remote sensing and enjoying online resources from Introduction to Remote Sensing by James Campbell and Randolph Wynne. I’m even surprised to go as far as Chapter 4 of the book, although my original plan is to really read it from cover to cover.

At the same time, I’m also reading another textbook on Making Hard Decisions, which I think would be helpful for geospatial analysis of land use change.

If you want to know more about geospatial analysis, here’s a helpful resource from The Pennsylvania State University, which consists of five episodes detailing how geospatial tools have become part of what we’re becoming as a people.

I hope you enjoy learning as much as I did from all the episodes!
