What kind of energy landscape do you have in your time?
In my time, there are global talks about shifting away from fossil fuels following the Conference of Parties (COP) 28. COP meetings are an annual gathering of global leaders who talk about climate-related issues and their plans for the direction the world should be heading in the immediate future.
Thinking about a world shifting away from fossil fuels, I can’t stop thinking about what would happen to coal power plants when they are decommissioned. Will they be refurbished into something else or demolished?
And what about the people working in these power plants for years? Where will they go after they will be displaced from their jobs? What about the local economy of where these power plants were built?
I hope you can tell me what it’s like so I can imagine a better future today.
