What good does winning an argument make while somebody else becomes a laughingstock?

Winning might make you feel good and deceive you into thinking that putting the other in a bad light makes you better. But no. Only fools would rejoice with you while the rest detests you for doing so.

While letting go of an argument in public seems easy, especially when you regard your reputation highly, it might not be so when the temptation to argue happens privately.

But what good does winning an argument and losing a friend do?

Indeed, it takes wisdom to bite your tongue.
