You may think that you can change the mind of a fool. But you are only fooling yourself.
Why?
Because a fool only wants to express his opinion and will not make the effort to understand. He is always in the right.
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion.
Proverbs 18:2 ESV
So, if you know the person taunting you is a fool, be wise not to engage with them.
Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools,
or you will become as foolish as they are.
Proverbs 26:4 NLT
There’s no winning an argument with a fool.
Do not speak in the hearing of a fool,
for he will despise the good sense of your words.
Proverbs 23:9 ESV
The best thing you can do when confronted by a fool is to hold back your temper, even when they try to pull all your strings.
A fool always loses his temper,
But a wise man holds it back.
Proverbs 29:11 NASB
Because fools, out of their folly, self-destruct. You don’t have to do anything (except bridle your temper) because they could really test your wits’ end.
A fool’s mouth is his ruin,
And his lips are the snare of his soul.
Proverbs 18:7 NASB
