When we have an urgent, important task that requires our focus and time to get it done, we want to shortcut the reward system in our brain so that we work on not-urgent but important (often requires less focus and time) tasks instead.
Finishing them feels rewarding, but we never made any progress on what we should have been working on in the first place.
They say, eat the frog first. But we often find ourselves making excuses to do what’s easy instead of what’s important.
