When all we can think about is ourselves, then it becomes challenging to see things beyond ourselves. Thinking that the spotlight only revolves around us blinds us from seeing reality.
Having an inflated sense of entitlement, thinking that we are the central figure in every encounter we have in this life, affects how we think and behave and even distorts our perception of things.
We might have unrealistic expectations about ourselves, such as becoming an overnight success because we’re already too good to put in the necessary effort and work to become successful.
And because of our self-centeredness, we struggle to empathize with others and understand their perspectives. Regardless of the narrative, we don’t care if we do the wrong things to get what we want because we have to maintain that spotlight shining on us. No one deserves the attention but us.
But as it is already set in stone, pride comes before the fall.
So when we allow ourselves to be blinded by ego, we may not realize that we’re already hovering by the cliff until we’re already down the slippery slope of no return.
