Reflections on becoming

Theory can only take you so far

in

A theory provides a starting point, but understanding it alone shouldn’t be the goal. Instead, we have to move beyond the theory and use what we learned to understand and apply them to the real world, addressing real problems.

As we begin to explore its applications, we’ll soon get confronted with how theories are often too simplistic in contrast with how complex human life and relationships are. It means we cannot simply compartmentalize things in real life and disregard their interactions.

The moment we see the gaps and validate our assumptions with real experiences, we can assess how the theory can make things better, where we can finally put it to use and push boundaries we’ve never been to before. And doesn’t pushing boundaries often lead to progress?
