Those of us who grew up with our parents and were raised in a loving environment find the comfort of having them around even when we’re already old enough to raise our own.
Something about their presence, perhaps the wisdom gained throughout their lifetime, makes us even more fond of them.
Here in the Philippines, where family ties are strong, we even want to hang around them as much as we can, knowing that they don’t have many years left in them. We deeply care for our parents.
That’s why we savor and enjoy the moment when we can be with them. Because while our sun is still about to peak, theirs is about to go down.
And the incomparable joy we feel when we have them around would become something we want to return to, even in our dreams. Then we hope to be the parents our children would be grateful for.
So the cycle begins again.
