Everyday Stories, Lived

Waking up from a reactive life

in

Why did you wake up today?

If you woke up just right on time to prepare yourself for work, thinking that you just needed that extra minute of sleep to get through the day, then you could be living a reactive life.

What does a reactive life look like?

You need to make deliberate choices about how you should go about your day. However, instead of proactively pursuing the things that matter to you and adding value to the people around you, you might have resigned to become an unfeeling cog in the system, simply waiting for the day to end and repeating the cycle in a monotonous industrial hum.

I used to live that way, half awake.

Not until I decided to wake up before 6 AM.

When I started to wake up early, embrace the calm of the pre-dawn hours, and pursue things for my well-being, I felt empowered. Because now, I have the chance to let my mind wander and dream and think about what I really want to do in life.

Waking up early allowed my mind to speak and be heard instead of being lulled by the things I should do for the day.

Waking up early is a choice, a proactive choice.

You have a choice.
