Wanting to fill a position requires attractive advertising, especially when you want to attract the best people. Because the best people know what they can offer and want to be compensated accordingly.
If you, unfortunately, fall into exaggerated offers that you’ll soon realize aren’t true when you get employed, you’ll soon feel betrayed and even demoralized by the lie. Even when you want to deliver the best work you can, if the work environment is limiting and discouraging you from doing what grows your department or organization, you feel stuck.
And being stuck at work for productive people is like a sentence.
If you are an employer who’s been reading this, please do not exaggerate what you can offer (such as a supportive work environment when it doesn’t exist because of the status quo) just to get the position filled immediately. Not only is it self-serving, but you’ll also rob the person you hired better opportunities for them to grow and make the most of their potential.
