It’s funny how we convince ourselves to give into buying stuff because we deserve it, that we’ve earned it. That the hard work we’ve put into it should be paid back, so we pay ourselves with more stuff (and perhaps more food than we generally consume).
But did you forget that our hard work was already paid back by the salaries we received?
There’s no point in paying ourselves again.
So when the next opportunity comes when you can choose to save rather than spend, think about how life isn’t just about satisfying yourself today.
We also live for others and for the generations that come after us.
So we save for them.
We save for the future.
Yes, it’s not inherently wrong to enjoy our fill.
But it’s obviously selfish to spend all our hard-earned money only for our gratification.
