Reflections on becoming

We can’t continue living the dorm life

in

I realized how not cooking is a lazy excuse, especially when you have the resources to do so.

Because we can’t continue living the dorm life forever, can we?

It felt the same as not putting the food in your mouth, even when it’s already in your hands.

And perhaps, I have carried on with the excuse for so long that it’s time to grow up.

As a matter of fact, cooking a recipe today for the first time in two months felt like home.

While going through the motions, I also felt how singleness is actually expensive. You can’t just cook for one, can you? Not with a hearty meal, yes? It might have worked if you are to make a sunny side up or cook some hotdogs. But with chicken curry or a pork humba? No, no, no. You have to cook for two or more.

Living alone is expensive too.

You must shoulder all the costs, which would have been better when shared. I imagine how I would have wanted to buy a loaf of bread. However, it would just go bad before I could finish it.

So to all the dormers out there who are living their best life, let’s hang on for a while. And I hope that in the next couple of years, we won’t be living alone anymore.

And yes, if you’ve been buying takeout since, you might try cooking, especially when you have the means to do so.
