Reflections on becoming

Aging and the never-ending war against gravity

in

As I looked at myself in the mirror one night, the reality dawned on me: I am getting older. It’s funny how I can’t remember my age anymore when people ask me about it, taking a pause too long, thinking how old I am again. Sometimes, I even make quick math like today’s year minus the year I was born, just so I could answer the question, how old are you?

It’s as if I stopped counting at 25.

The wrinkles are starting to show. And perhaps, all the beauty care I put on can slow them down. But there’s really never be running away from them.

Everyone I know is getting older. Even the actors and actresses that shaped our worldview are aging too!

But mainstream media convinces us that we can look forever twenty-five. And some people have taken the extremes to live it up like it’s one way to feel secure in this fleeting life.
