Actually, I never thought about it until my phone failed to boot up one day. It wasn’t like the phone had been showing signs of system failure. No. It just decided to stop working, and there was nothing I could do about it. Okay, perhaps all the accidental drops (like how it fell from six feet high) finally concluded.
Glad I do have a dumbphone to use in the meantime.
But look, who’s dumb now?
Okay, my dumbphone is two years older than my smartphone. However, there are just things I do in the daytime (and nighttime) that are so wrapped up with a smartphone. I never realized how dependent I was on my phone until I had to stop using it.
How can I seamlessly send money across digital accounts now?
Here are the things I learned today:
- Back-up regularly (I kept holding it because I was too confident, way too confident, about the status quo)
- Create redundancy (Make sure that the apps you use are also available via web browser so that you can still access them even without your smartphone)
- Stop making excuses for not doing 1 and 2
And how to live through the day without a phone?
- Connect with people in person
- Do house chores
- Read a book
- Care for your house pets
- Cook
- Explore the great outdoors
- Wander
Now I remember what it’s like to live life outside the online connections I built.
P.S.: Emails are amazing.
