Hybrid work is the future?

in

I’ve read articles about how hybrid work is the future.

If not for the pandemic, I wouldn’t even get the feel of what a work from home feels like. And after a year of working from home, I have already built work routines that kept me sane.

Yes, working from home is so flexible that you can just start the day working in your pajamas. And if you feel like hugging your dog in-between working hours, you can do that too.

But, wow! Working from home is sometimes tiring, especially when all the people in the house forget that you’re actually working. And I think the burden of this work setup is different when you’re a woman because you have to think of the house chores on top of your workload. (Now I realized how the cleaning staff is a big help in allowing me to focus on doing my work that I don’t need to bother about dusting off my desk anymore.)

So, okay, back to the discussion on hybrid work.

Well, wouldn’t it be nice to have the idea of balance? Where you can enjoy the best of both worlds? When you’re fed up being in the house, you can break the routine by going to the office and vice versa.

However, here’s what’s been going on for people doing the hybrid work setup.

From Why hybrid work is emotionally exhausting:

“A predictable, consistent routine can help people cope with feelings of stress and uncertainty – especially during a pandemic,” says Voyles. “Hybrid, however, requires frequent changes to those daily habits: workers have to constantly switch things up, so it’s hard to find a routine when your schedule is always in-and-out the office.”

Perhaps, when things have settled in and boundaries established, the hybrid could be the future of work we hoped to be. Especially since I am working with my computer these days, working anywhere is indeed liberating.
