Knowing your position

in

It’s challenging to move forward if, in the first place, you don’t know where you are.

I used to think that the only way to get ahead in life is to move upward and forward.

But then, this pandemic made many of us realize that sometimes, people can also move sideways. Especially if it means a life that gives you agency, belonging, and cause. Bruce Feiler, the author of the book Life is in the Transitions, calls it the ABCs of meaning.

Because, yes, moving sideways could also mean progress.

However, I find that knowing your position, a form of personal evaluation, allows you to see whether you are already stuck and, at the same time, helps you see the opportunities you can leverage and strengths you can maximize.

And just by knowing your position helps you identify which way to go next.
