Reflections on becoming

Transitions and distress

in

Transitions aren’t easy, but they are essential to becoming the person you ought to become. But because it is usually uncomfortable, some of us (if not most of us) do not have the guts to push through it to go to the other side.

Often, this phase of transition distinguishes fearful people from those who persevere enough to wade through the unknown waters knowing that there is dry land on the other side. They usually fear letting go of “what used to be” to be exchanged with something they do not see yet.

Remember the time you went to school the first time? How daunting (yet exciting) was it to meet many new and different people in one day?

Yes, that’s right. It’s different from talking about shifting careers of transferring workplaces with a much larger stake: getting hungry without any income coming in.

But if it has to be done, then it should be done. And you should just be wise enough to prepare for contingencies. Most importantly, submit your plans to the Lord, on top of praying to Him about them.

Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him],And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].
Proverbs 16:3 AMP

If it’s God’s will, no man can shut it. All you need to do is take that one step of faith, knowing that God wants you to be where you need to go.
