Everyday Stories, Lived

Dress-up and pretense

in

It’s easy to wear nice and pretend to look like somebody else these days, where you dress up to portray the character you’d like to play.

Whether you wear fast fashion or expensive clothes, you have a picture in your head which you hope you appear to be. But after the dress-up and pretense, you’re left with the real you who was suppressed behind the superficialities.

Then you start all over again the next day.

My hope is that as you sleep tonight, begin to ask yourself, “Am I living my life as I ought to live it?”

Maybe you’ve been trying to become somebody elsewhere; you should’ve started being you.
