When I was still in elementary, my teacher once told me that the way to be better in writing is this:
READ, READ, READ
WRITE, WRITE, WRITE
REPEAT
She said that there’s no way around it.
And that’s what I did.
I can say it’s really sound advice, now that I’ve done it for years. To write better, you need to write and write and write. However, you cannot write anything if you do not read and read a lot of stuff people write about.
It’s a process of learning and regurgitating what you’ve learned.
You may not appear authentic at first, but you will eventually find your voice when you keep on writing (even they are not good for you, yet).
I am sure I did not write like this when I was in high school. But I am sure I am better than I was just because I followed what my teacher said.
Now, it’s your turn to try it out.
Do you want to be better at writing? Here’s a free eBook you can download in epub format. You can also read it online! How cool is that?
After you’ve done your reading, I encourage you to read topics you are interested in writing about. Fill your head with so many ideas until it explodes unless you write them down.
Start typing on those keys!
But if you like to write with a pen and a paper, go do just that.
