Keeping yourself awake

Sometimes, we overestimate ourselves, thinking that our bodies could operate like machines — tireless.

But just as machines need scheduled maintenance, although less often than we do (which is daily), we need to give in to that time of rest, getting some sleep. Lest we risk getting ourselves sick and unable to be productive as we hope.

I can remember the time when we kept ourselves awake just so we could stay awake with the driver as we travel 12 hours by land. We really pushed ourselves even though we just came from an eight-hour day shift. That means we pushed ourselves to be awake almost a full day.

But no, our bodies know better what we need.

And as we gave into sleep, we found ourselves floating in between dreams. It gave us some boost throughout the day too.

Our bodies need sleep, yes they do.
