WOW! That fast?
I remember how I started this blog and how excited I was that I didn’t want to sleep even though it was so so late unless I had everything almost set up. Then after some planning about the things I should be writing about, I realized how beginnings are lonely.
But now, we’re here! I say we because you’ve stayed with me, reading some of the stuff I write, until today. I know you’ve been busy at work too, but thank you so much for sticking it out with me.
I used to dream about being here while writing my first ever blog post. And did you know that I even felt like quitting just because I thought no one was reading anything I was writing about? Well, now I know that it’s not totally true because you are here.
So what made me last this long?
I listened to Seth Godin about the dip and the importance of shipping your work even if you don’t feel like it.
Why Seth Godin? Because one day, I came across his book Whatcha Gonna Do With That Duck?: And Other Provocations, 2006-2012. And then I learned he has a blog, so I read his stuff there too. And then I read more of his books like The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick), The Practice: Shipping Creative Work, and Unleashing the Ideavirus. Okay, I even listen to his podcast, the Akimbo.
And why should I listen to him? Because he’s been blogging since January 15, 2002 (Check out his first ever blog post here). So yes, I followed his steps (I even copied how his blog looks and tried to imitate how he does his podcast, and I’m sure he is okay with that—because people like us do things like this).
Aside from everything I’ve learned from Seth, I also did the work, drip by drip, until I got here with you.
And it’s not just about writing the 700th blog post about why I am celebrating today.
I’ve just finished my first month at work (hence the photo with the sunflowers because it gives you a clue where I work), and together with my team, we have successfully delivered our first project colloquium! 🎉
At the same time, it’s my boyfriend’s birthday today 🎂 and he just accepted a job offer today too! 🎉🎉
WOW! So many accomplishments converging on the same day!
But never fall into the trap of thinking that I got here overnight.
Once again, thank you so much, avid reader! And I hope that we’d still get another year together, and another, then another.
Here’s to shipping our work (writing daily in this case) drip by drip.
